This weekend, the town of Tetbury in Gloucestershire will play host to the 5th annual Wacky Races Soapbox Derby, with entries from all over the country gathering to take part in a downhill race through the centre of town.
On Bank Holiday Monday a fleet of make-shift cars, powered only by gravity, will descend on Tetbury with spectators gathering for a day of thrills and spills as 32 competitors take on the town's steepest hill and the infamous hairpin bend.
IT Group's Jason Coyne and Jamie Smith will be amongst those taking to the starting grid, racing in our ‘office-made’ kart: - “Clarity”.
The event, now in its 5th year, has grown significantly in popularity in recent years. So much so that organisers had to cut the entry deadline short as the race quickly reached full capacity with 32 entries including 7 junior entries.
Organised by Tetbury Lions Club, the day is a massive fundraising opportunity for the local community and all money raised will be go towards securing a wheelchair accessible vehicle for the town.
